Stop reminding me of the mortality of my babies please
I have a couple 72 year olds that still act like 15 year olds
1 year should be 16 cat years.
This.
1st Cat year = 16 human years.
each subsequent cat year = 8 human years.
For dogs:
1st dog year = 20 human years
each subsequent dog year = 5 human years
Not at all. A 12 year old dog is senior and quite often decrepit (dependant on breed) A 14 year old cat is currently hanging off my ceiling fan chittering at a moth while her 12 year old daughter stalks it from a bookcase
If you keep your cats active and stimulated, they can age very gracefully.
Play with your cats people.
And on what is this based upon?
Just comparing average life expectancies? Cause that is just dumb.
A year is one orbit around the sun, this is exactly the same for humans as it is for pets.
Better solutions:
Comparing health issues and severity rates by age.
Comparing relative behavioral maturity thresholds
These are really the two things that we actually care about when thinking about age. Both have their issues. Still better.
