I currently have a ring doorbell that I pay a yearly fee for but I want to get away from Amazon and a subscription fee. I would prefer if it used the Wi-Fi and it was able to connect with my house doorbell. Edit: I’d also like to add that I would like it to have the ability to stream and record video.
Reolink has a wifi video doorbell that works great, it has an integration with Home Assistant but also with Frigate. I use Frigate personally, since it’s better at person detection and I can record directly to my server. If you don’t use Frigate, you can record to an SD card that you slot into the back of the doorbell.
2nd the Reolink. I have one, works well with HA.
3rd. Reolink working great with HA
4th vote for Reolink, with one caveat: the live video feed takes several minutes to load in home assistant for me, but is pretty instant when viewing through the Reolink app. I’ve spent several evenings trying to get it to load faster without luck, so for now I’m content just using the Reolink app.
I would also note they have a PoE version as well. It’s quite handy to minimise congestion on your WiFi, and not have to worry about batteries.
Both work well with various home automation systems.
Yeah, this is the answer. I don’t have a Reolink doorbell, but I have their PoE cameras with Frigate and HA, and they work perfectly.
Unifi protect doorbell, but I do believe you need a unifi protect instance in order to record
Do they have a wireless one? I’ve only ever seen wired options but don’t know their product line super well
Wireless internet, but still needs to be wired in to get power. It’s not battery
They do but I don’t know if it’s available on their official store anymore. It’s just called the G4 Doorbell rather than the G4 pro
It still needs to be wired. Just not ethernet. It plugs into your doorbell low voltage wiring
Ah, yeah it does require that. I assume that’s what OP wants because they said they want to connect to their house doorbell
Oh shoot you’re right. My bad
Reolink all the way
2 way audio is pretty basic requirement…
It has two way audio AFAIK https://m.reolink.com/product/reolink-video-doorbell/
I used to have a Ring and became concerned about privacy once Amazon took over. Worse, all it used to capture was delivery people’s backs - by the time it would see motion the action was almost over. That’s when it captured anything at all - it used to miss a lot.
Reolink doesn’t require any Internet access - even for initial setup. People detection works great with Frigate and you can tell it to start recording before motion is detected so you don’t miss anything.
Full disclosure, it does take some fiddling to get it working reliably. I still don’t have 2 way audio working.
I’m all too familiar with spending countless hours trying to get things to work so that shouldn’t be a problem.
🤣
Surprisingly, I just got an email saying that the price for Yearly Nest subscription is going up so all the more reason to switch.
I have an amcrest one and it works great with frigate over RTSP. I also blocked it’s internet access and firewalled it on my local network so it can’t phone home.
xiaomi wireless button, and any speaker like google home mini
I suppose I forgot to mention that I would like a video doorbell
I went with Dahua VTO2111 https://www.dahuasecurity.com/search/products?keyword=vto2111 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003121456848.html
As an panel I went with Dahua VTH5221 https://www.dahuasecurity.com/search/products?keyword=vth5221 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004127386594.html
Same setup here but it’s an Aqara ZigBee button.
I really like getting a notification that someone is at the door when I’m out. Yeah maybe it would be better with a video or picture, but I paid less than a fiver for it, including shipping from fucking China
Haha I literally setup this exact thing yesterday, and then spent ages making Telegram notifications that delete themselves after a set time, so as not to clog up the feed. Because what’s the point of knowing that someone was at the door after they’ve left?
Those Aqara buttons are so tiny and cute!
When you say “wireless” do you also mean battery powered?
No I just mean Wi-Fi. I do have existing doorbell wires that I can hook up to it for power. I’d probably prefer not having a battery just so I don’t have to worry about charging it ever.
Good, your options are way better than way.
If it needs to be battery powered, the Eufy T8210C is pretty good and records to a local base station. The battery life is fine, but I would absolutely prefer to have a hardwired one if I could.
Haven’t linked it into home assistant yet, but I’m pretty happy with my Nest battery doorbell
Wouldn’t this just be the Google alternative to what OP already has, and wants to drop?
