I know how to turn off the notifications, but Plex should not nag me to rate things I have watched.

What are you talking about? I’ve never seen any nag in regards to rating anything in plex. Am I missing something?

If you have notifications on a mobile device, plex will ask you to rate what you watched. Apparently it used to do it even if you didn’t turn it off.

I just checked my app… I have notifications completely enabled in Android. I’ve never seen such a notification though?

Do you have a screenshot or link to it? I’m just curious to see it at this point.

“Reminder to rate watched items” is even selected in my setting > notifications apparently… Didn’t even know this was a thing. now that I know that such an option is there, I’m totally going to uncheck it anyway… but I’ve still never seen one personally and it sucks that it’s not opt-in rather than opt-out.

I have never seen that but I just used Google to check for those settings in the mobile app. It’s up to every user if they want to get reminded to do things or not. Same for all the other settings, just chose what you prefer. I have them off.

Yep. I know how to turn them off (although for a lot of folks it didnt work), but why, WHY would they send notifications for this?

but why, WHY would they send notifications for this?

Because the option was turned on?

It also doesnt happen when the option was turned on for some people, lol.

But more importantly: why should this be an option at all? Do people actually rate their own movies? And even if they do, do they need a reminder?

          Finally, always opt-in. Never opt-out.

I see the disable notification option for “reminder to rate watches items” under the “discover” section on iOS.

Thats good. Someone recently recommended “infuse” for ios as an app for jellyfin. The free version does everything you need since some of the paid features are handled by jellyfin on the server side.

If you are not on ios then disregard that comment.

I ended up stopping my use of Plex just for the multiple annoying things that kept adding up for me, it made it feel like a product I was using instead of a product I was hosting. It felt like some settings weren’t sticking and I’d always end up on the recommended tab despite explicitly avoiding it. I am a lifetime pass holder and still host, but have found myself using jellyfin more these days. Apologies for coming into the plex community and shitting on it but this showed up in my all feed.

I think it’s fair to have these kind of discussions. I have the lifetime pass too but it is a much different thing today than it was ten years ago.

I’ve found they’re also not prioritising the right things, like why would I want to integrate live TV into my “media server”? I’d much rather they integrate things such as better av1 support

You joke, but I was just talking about it with some friends. I have a friend that loves 3 and really likes 2. I personally find the first one a great deal of fun, and the next two formulaic and rather dull.

I never really got into the series. But I do remember liking 3 as a kid. In highschool, I borrowed the DVD’s of this and Robocop from a friend and I thought both were just alright.

I like it. If I didn’t get the reminders, I would forget to rate things I’ve watched.
