I’m not trying to be pedantic, but I thought a ceasefire meant a temporary pause in hostilities, as opposed to a peace treaty which would be permanent.
Every peace starts with a ceasefire, maybe except complete surrender of one of the sides. Some ceasefires lasts decades, for example no peace was ever signed for Korean War making it de iure over 74 years and counting long.
Historically a ceasefire means to stop killing, and it is considered broken if hostilities resume.
Baking in the resumption of hostilities is essentially negotiating for peace in bad faith. This has been Netenyahu’s strategy from the start, because he knows an end to the war means an end to his reign of power.
