Precisely this. I am an electrical engineer. I was told in school not to stress about the FE exam unless I was a civil engineer. Or I was planning on designing high power equipment. I guess am an electrical engineer technically but these days I also work as a software engineer as well.

There’s nothing to elaborate really. The joke is just a false theory that water buffalos must be opposite of a normal buffalos. So hypothetically, if buffalos were to throw water balloons, then water buffalos must throw dirt balloons. In a similar vein, if a buffalo were to enjoy taking baths in water, then water buffalos must enjoy taking dirt baths.

When I was young, I used to have a t-shirt of the comic where a dog is trying to lure a cat into a dryer with a sign that says “CAT FUD”. I mostly encountered his comics in a similar way. In bookstores, posters, etc. I didn’t even know the name of it at the time. So I agree it felt like a cultural thing back then to me.
