Voodoo Banshee, so I could play Quake, Unreal and Deus Ex.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs shows what it takes for humans to be happy. A lot of people can’t even reach level 1.
This. You can usually spot bots from their low- value click bait. (“should cannibalism be legal?”,“why does God allow evil to exist?”,“Trump is a genius”, etc).
The U.S. also has a huge defense industry that has made people ridiculously rich at the expense of U.S. taxpayers. Those billionaires are heavily invested in the defense industry, so it’s not in their interests that wars end at all.
This is that “military-industrial complex” that former President Eisenhower warned us about so many years ago. His concern was that the U.S. would become bogged down in an endless series of “forever wars” that do nothing but transfer wealth to the already-wealthy.
Keeping that military industrial complex well-fed is the reason why so many politicians have such a boner for war. Not only to keep their wealthy sponsors happy, but to keep tax money and jobs flowing to their states, which just happen to manufacture war materiel.
This is Israel’s setup for bombing a damn hospital. Not that they’ve ever cared about needing an excuse, before.
Steam has a native Linux client that uses a custom version of Wine called Proton. It handles all the emulator settings for you. All the Steam games I bought in Windows run just fine under Linux. And amost all my older, non-Steam games (like Deus Ex or Giants: Citizen Kabuto) work great under Wine.
I hate commercials that have NO connection to the product they’re selling. At all. Like, somebody literally wasted your company’s money to make a video about nothing.
Showing the benefits of your product is step 1 of advertising. Creativity is dead.
If the game is Elder Scrolls, then I beat the OS by waving my Wabbajack and the Windows OS turns into Linux.
Paisley. It was really popular pattern in the late 1960s / early 1970s in curtains and furniture.
I’m currently into 3D factory building games, so I would recommend Techtonica or Satisfactory.
When you take file sizes into account, EBooks are the most high-density entertainment you can bring. Followed by old-school games, then music, then video.
I save my profanity for times and things that are truly worth getting upset about. If you use it all the time, then it becomes meaningless. It just becomes background noise and you sound like a 10 year old all the time.
I’d love it if VirtualBox emulated some really basic 3D cards (Voodoo 3, Radeon 9800) so I could do some old school gaming. I have a few old Windows games that won’t run under Wine.
Usenet was awesome. A distributed, decentralized network, with thousands of forums. Until it got taken over by spam and porn and a lack of moderation.
Now we have Lemmy. Let’s not mess it up.
Imagine if Wine became the new Windows. (Or became all that was left of Windows).
Henry Kissinger. Whenever you needed the most depraved, amoral, anti-democratic take on anything, whether it was the Vietnam war or the Khmer Rouge or the civil rights movement, you could always count on Henry farking Kissinger.
I’ve got two separate drives. Linux Mint on an SSD and Windows 10 on an older, mechanical drive. Leave the Windows drive alone. Make the Linux drive the first drive in your BIOS boot order, with the option to boot to Windows as your second drive.
If your GRUB menu doesn’t show the Windows drive yet, run “sudo update-grub” to detect it. When your reboot, the bootloader should show both options.
I also think the smartest thing Valve ever did was add Proton to their Linux platform. They are going to capture about 90% of gamers migrating from Windows to Linux. It’s a lot easier for gamers to use a pre-configured platform than fiddle with Wine settings for each game.
And insurance companies add nothing to healthcare. They contribute nothing. They streamline nothing. And THEY are the ones who make your health care decisions for you, NOT your doctor.
Got a back problem that could be easily fixed by surgury? Well screw that, insurance isn’t paying for that. But they’ll be happy to put you on painkillers for the rest of your life so you’ll be stuck in a parasitic relationship where you have pay them forever to afford your pain meds.
They only exist to transfer wealth from sick, financially vulnerable people to the billionaire class.
