The transfer was kind of a PITA because since the domain transferred from Google to Squarespace to Canspace to then being hosted on CF’s nameservers (but still on Canspace) the DNSSEC meant that CF couldn’t actually get it connected until like 48 hours later. Was quite worried that I’d screwed up somewhere.
I do that occasionally but since the stale “Active” is the default it’s easy to forget.

edit: isn’t this kind of a “you’re holding it wrong” problem? I mean, the default behaviour on Lemmy is awful, not just for this but also since iirc it didn’t default to showing my subscribed communities at the start either.
The high volume of unoriginal Linux content is getting old, and that’s coming from somebody who uses Linux.
I can’t really complain about the content being a bit stale when it feels like the alternative is nothing. So many communities that had vibrant counterparts on Reddit struggle to get one post per week. If it’s ditto-memes on Lemmy, I’ll take it.
Imho the big challenge is just lack of throughput. I follow many communities, and it’s still not at the point where my front-page is consistently new content every day.
Feed the beast. Until then, quit whining about how repetitive the content is - there just isn’t enough of it yet.

Okay, I’m willing to believe that Israel had a contingency plan ready to exploit the political leeway created if they were hit by a terrible attack. Like “if they kill a bunch of Israelis, this is our shopping-list of objectives to gain ground and kill targets in a time when the world can’t criticize us”. I would believe there are people in the Israeli military who are amoral enough to do that.
However, believing they looked the other way when they knew about an impending attack strains credulity.
And if you’re believing they were active participants in orchestrating an attack on their own people? That means you need your tinfoil hat loosened.
The asymmetry of power is so severe that Israel could flatten every building in Gaza and butcher every person there in a single day if they really wanted to. Yes, Israel does horrible things to Palestinians, but if you’re going to start from “Israel wants to kill Palestinians”, you kinda have to explain why they don’t do it even more than they already do.
Actually that would be quite new, since most of their land-grabbing actions have been in the West Bank, both the rural settlement communities and urban areas around Jerusalem. The Gaza Strip borders have been consistent for a very long time.
But yes, their current approach of levelling buildings and commanding Palestinians to evacuate does lead me to think they might try that in Gaza.

While Israel has been chipping away at Palestinian land in the West Bank, Palestinian population continues to rise, and rise faster than Israeli population at that. And we don’t see the West Bank doing these kind of attacks, only Gaza.

And the red in that graph is “injuries”, not “deaths”. When Hamas attacked Israel a few days ago they butchered over 1300 people, mostly civilians, the most ever killed in a single day in this mess.
Does that excuse the Israeli government’s apartheid fascism? Of course not. Does it make appropriate for governments to take a moment to show support? Yes.
You can argue that it’s retaliation for decades of oppression, or for the horrible attacks in Palestine in 2014 that killed even more people spread over a month.
That doesn’t make it right. It’s still terrorism. It’s still butchering civilians.
Western governments are supporting Israel because they just got over a thousand people butchered.
They’re also asking Israel to show restraint in Palestine. Even the US, Israel’s chief arm’s dealer, is telling them not to do war crimes. Is it meaningless chin music? Of course. But it’s not necessarily an “endorsement”.
If your friend sees his kid get grievously hurt, you support him. When he gets his gun, you try to talk him down. Now, the problem in this story is: you gave him that gun.
I don’t think the west is endorsing genocide.
I do think that, if it really comes to real actual genocide: They armed it.
