Ooh, I’d heard of htop but btop is new to me!
2023.11 looks like a great release! I’m still holding off until a week into the month like I always do to ensure I catch the major bugfixes, but I’m excited to see what I can do with the todo lists!
…there was already a simple version used for favicons that didn’t look as bad, it’s the one on the right. Switching to just using it for everything would be fine, instead of this… thing with the awkward left branch joining the main one at the bottom.
Good job, Tails! Now fly me to that platform over there…
Here are a few great channels from my Youtube subscriptions!
Tasting History with Max Miller hits a perfect cross-section of my interest in cooking and my interest in history. Max goes through a historical recipe each episode and pauses part of the way through to explain the history of the dish.
Minute Food has lots of short (sometimes under a minute!) videos about the science behind cooking.
Chinese Cooking Demystified is a husband-and-wife duo living in China that goes over traditional Chinese recipes, I especially like how in the voice-over they frequently list substitutions for ingredients that may be difficult to find outside of China.
Atomic Shrimp does far more than just cooking, but the cooking videos on his channel always give a neat insight into the everyday meals an older British IT Specialist makes.
Why are some gamers happy about a new game in a popular series?
I like the boxes and fence one more, this just feels super-contrived
Don’t ask for life advice from strangers on the internet who have no incentive to give you GOOD life advice
Came here to say the same. Used to be closed then I got a cat and now I can’t imagine waking up without her napping on me
You mean that shitty cop drama with a batman skin spray-painted on top?
Nah, the 90s were the early days of the internet being popular, with AOL launching their internet service in 1991 and even The Today Show talking about the internet in 1994. While 2002-internet isn’t the same as today’s internet, it was far from the early days by that point.
That’s a good one! Gnome is the Windows 8 of the Linux world, and the devs tend to intentionally break the extension system between major releases. It’s truly baffling how the group that made Gnome 2.x continue to hate most of the Linux userbase so much.
Is it 2002, or the early days of the internet?
Again? Wasn’t Gnome3 bad enough?
The difference is that ActivityPub clients currently only display the username part and hide the host for some reason. This can lead to confusion, I don’t get why the full address isn’t displayed by default.
I get that, I’ve been “SoNick” or some variation of it for a few decades now. However, a friend of mine uses different - but thematically similar - usernames for different services, when I asked her about it she explained that as a girl on the internet she has attracted more than a few stalkers; changing up the username makes it harder for them to find her on different services.
Most of my automations are lighting-based, so my favorites are both simple in theory but I can’t imagine going without them:
1.) When I get home (or near home) and it’s after dark, the living room lights and the TV turn on.
2.) Not really an automation on its own, but when I lay down to bed I turn off my bedroom lights through the HA app. I’m so used to it that the thought of turning the bedroom lights off at the switch then fumbling through the dark to bed sounds barbaric at this point.
