Ooh I dug through recipe apps a while back, I ended up using Pestle. It’s pricier than Paprika but I prefer the Pestle UI. Both good apps with similar feature sets, just providing another option.

They will come in waves and growth fuels more growth. Most importantly, check out the last two graphs. Posts and comments continue to increase. Build it and they will come. There’s content here and in time more people will discover you can have the content and the community without the Reddit bullshit.

Weight loss can pretty much always be simplified to calories in, calories out. All the different fads, trends, diets, and fasting are all just different means to either reduce your calories in, or increase your calories out.

Anything that makes you pant is more calories out.

Lemmy.world and Lemmy.ml shouldn’t host well over half the content I see. Easy targets for DDOS and then their users are screwed AND their hosted content stops federating.

lemmyloves.art seems like a name that could catch on. I’m sure if it became a prominent art community on Lemmy people would donate to support the upkeep.

None of this applies to the average user though.

The vast majority of devices sold come with Windows or MacOS, so you’re suggesting that the average Joe should wipe their drive, pick a distro, and self-install and maintain a new operating system.

You and I know that it’s not as difficult as it sounds, but that’s asking a lot from people who can’t even bother to reboot their system when there’s been an update pending for 10 days.

I spun up Ubuntu on a Linode so it should be up all the time. I check the Linode dash fairly often and haven’t seen any issues with it.

This is also managed by IT and is fully traceable as well.

I have unlimited data on my cell and just stay off WiFi altogether. The price premium is worth it to me for this one specific reason alone, let alone the other benefits/convenience.

If you have a reasonable cause and it’s a smaller instance you’d like to defederate from, you can try messaging your instance admin to see how they feel about it. They may happily oblige if they don’t think the instance is contributing anything of value.

edit: not sure how this works regarding the users of that instance, if their comments and posts are blocked as well.
