I loved stumbled upon! it’s got repetitive after a while, but I found a bunch of stuff I never otherwise would have
adjacent answer, but resource requirements are lower than might be expected since the simulation only needs to capture elements observed by a conscious entity. the vast majority of the known universe has not been observed in any detail that requires significant memory or processing resources. this same technique is employed by computer game designers so that only scenery and elements within view of a player are fully rendered.
having gotten zapped by 120VAC and 230VAC I totally agree. the former sucks and is no fun while the latter made me question my life choices

I know this post didn’t coin the term 'enshitification", but it really is a great way to describe the monetization of everything that was once good on the internet
Jews call that sadaka. it’s one of the ideas I remember fondly from my early years
many people come back from near death experiences with insight about the whole structure of the universe. one common theme they report is that we all chose the lives we’re living because these lives offered the best opportunity to learn and grow. they say we come back many times until we learn everything we need to.
so, if true, the downside is that you and I will probably be back. but, the upside is that we won’t keep coming back forever and that we can curtail the number of times we will return by being the best people we can and by learning as much as we can.
people are generally ok. put them in a situation where they can climb over other people to advance and watch the rot begin.
so, while people are generally ok, corporate people are generally not.
