You’re just using a completely different scenario to move the goalposts.
How so? If you abolish prisons, they’re abolished for every scenario

Ok.
I’m merely unhappy with falsehoods, and this is one I have first hand experience in.
We still have communist parties, that experience the same angst you have, here, too, you know.
The way I lessened my issues is by becoming self employed. I’ve made no effort to move to us, and never planned to. Things became much easier once I did so.
So, none. Traces by RNA amplification in sewages. But there very well might be a right wing conspiracy.
lol. That is not how budget meetings work. That isn’t even how salary negotiations work
What can I tell you, other than it does work like that for me?
It seems you’re very unhappy at your place of employment. What efforts have you made to improve that?
I would love to be proved wrong, and see the sources describing recent polio cases in england!
Would indeed be apt!
Yeah. I gather you’re from the US.
I’m not telling you what to do.
If we “only” reduce the prison population to 5% or 1% of its current count in the process
Then why call it abolish prisons?
I see now that you’re trying trying to trigger an additional emotional response. Working on association, rather than logic. Such manipulation, especially, is something I would not want to be a part of. It’s vile.
You do you. I’ll just repeat my original statement: it also drives away people, who would otherwise agree.
Wouldn’t giving her the mean to pay the rent prevent her from needing to take part of drug traffic ?
From context I gather you’re from Belgium. Isn’t there already OCMW/CPAS for free housing?
What do you do when it’s the single mom in free housing that just wants 500EUR extra cash? Find political consensus to give her a bigger free house, with a pool, and a credit card?
But your idea that companies pay people more when they pay less taxes is hopelessly naive.
I understand you feel this way.
Yet I experienced this first hand. In this comment section there was the example of a company car. As in: I was offered a company car (employer pays). I’d rather have the cash. I refused the car, got the cash. This really happens. Not every employer is evil corp.
They look at the budget: we want to spend X on this employee. If we have to spend 27% on employees RSZ, then (1-.27) remains for gross wages.
We have different employment experiences. I changed my situation by switching employers to a place I like. You’re trying to change your situation by loudly shouting on social media in the hopes of political change?
Everybody understands this, but struggles to apply the same logic to other topics.
People don’t go: England is polio free, yet there’s people with polio.
Perhaps this method of communication is something that will have to adapt. It disengages a lot of people who otherwise would share the same goals.
I have diagnosed C-PTSD. But I understand it’s too late now to treat my father or grandfather.
Going prisonless seems, to me, rediculous?
Sounds like a massive, massive win. We should do like them for healthcare.
Sure, do so!
I live in Belgium. A copy-paste of that system would also increase costs for employing people and lower wages. As I tried to explain.
Did I ever say 5%?
Well, let’s again look at how this conversation started. Look at the posted image. That was the statement I was referring to when saying 5% is unrealistic. A fabrication or lie.
In short, prison abolition isn’t about abolishing prisons?
Bad name choice in my opinion, as it immediately makes me think: what a dumb idea. There will surely always be people beyond a point of no return.
Isn’t the root cause often (generational) trauma. There’s no, within lifetime, solution.
3 psychologists per criminal I’d guess.
No opportunities for remote gigs with a comp science degree?
Really?! Weird.
Yes. Please revisit the original comment that started the whole train.
Take a look at all the comments inbetween.
Talking about apples wasn’t my idea. I never even argued against state ran healthcare.
I simply, from experience, and with sources, stated that “free healthcare” or “5% of your paycheque” is grossly incorrect.
One does not exclude the other?
Why rather be cross, than change your situation?
My mom was so happy she got approved for a credit card.
So from age 8 to 14, every year, I asked santa for a credit card.
