Are either centipedes or spiders insects? I thought insects only had 6 legs
No way any of my friends would pay 10 bucks a month for kagi, so yeah most people just don’t care enough or search enough to want to look into alternatives
While I can see the plus side of being able to identify bots, I don’t think the WEI is the right way to do it, and Google definitely isn’t the right company to be handling it
Some people are crazy about sites like Character.ai, and people were using chatgpt as their own therapist when it first came out. There’s an audience for these types of chatbots
Does this work with installing xpi files from GitHub? (Say bypass paywalls for Firefox) I remember I used to be able to do this on Nightly, but suddenly I stopped having that ability
I think the original FIRE was much more radical- basically the plan is to save up only like 700k or so, move to a low cost of living area, spend less than 20k a year, and try to live off of stock increases and interest.
But honestly that life sounds kinda shitty, so people stopped talking about FIRE what all the other conditions and it just became more “save, invest, retire eventually”
What happened? I’m assuming you’re speaking from personal experience?
They also banned me for using a modded third party app, so now I can’t post or interact on Reddit. Which is honestly perfectly fine with me, since I don’t want it support the website by creating content for it anyways
I can tell you from experience, there is nothing more distracting than having your manager walk up behind you and tap you on the shoulder while you’re working on code. While this problem doesn’t go away completely with remote work, at least you have time to compose yourself and bookmark your work before you respond
For real, I have not gotten sick since I started working from home. I did get COVID once going to a company sponsored event with 1000 people, but I call that “going into the office”. Other than that, it’s been pretty nice being healthy every day
Maybe they store the punch card info locally and don’t double check with any databases on their side? It sounds really dumb, but that’s the only reason I can think of
Yeah I use it, but only as a rubber duckie. I never put in code unless I understand what it’s doing, and most of the time I’m just using it as a sounding board. Since it never returns the right code on the first try anyways haha
Yeah I order from Instacart from a Costco like 30 minutes away, so I always feel bad and tip well.
I can tell you that I’ve been using Kagi for a few months and it hasn’t been life changing or anything. But I would say that it has been useful enough to keep around. I honestly like the info dense layout over the other search sites, and I use the ability to push down or block sites entirely so I don’t see the spam sites I don’t want to see. Also, “quick answers” is actually pretty useful sometimes when I don’t want to click on any of the search results. Plus, with the $10 sub, you get unlimited uses of the summarizer, which has been great for arxiv papers.
I wouldn’t say it’s for everyone and I don’t know if there’s astroturfing going on, but it’s been useful enough for me to keep paying the $10 a month
