Edit: I read the front of the wiki, this isn’t much like SteamOS, this sounds like it will be good for KDE enthusiasts and OEMs. I’ll give it a try after it cooks more, looks like a great distro for a laptop

I personally don’t like liner locks any “lower” than CRKT range, I’m a big fan of the “AXIS” lock that Benchmade created like 25 years ago. Just got a GANZO with a robust AXIS lock for like $25, it’s my first one from them. I’m so impressed by the first one it can only go down from here. Just last night I received a Kizer branded $70 fixed blade knife ostensibly made from D2 steel and from my initial inspection it looks great. Nice hollow grind, decent finishing, well textured micarta handle. I bought it to have a fixed blade I can “conceal” and stay legal (3.5in max blade length for concealed knife in my area, that includes knives “concealed” in my pocket)
If you don’t have experience sharpening knives, go ahead and get a cheapie and scratch that blade up before you buy a $150 Benchmade, for sure. Hell, there was recently a $10 knife at WalMart for a minute that sent all the knife nerds into a tizzy because it was such a good deal. I missed out on it.

My 6a is all the phone I need. Doesn’t lag. Camera isn’t great but I hear that there is better software available than stock(?)
I think Firefox with maps.google uses Firefox location, because I’ve used it like you, to supplement the open source maps. I don’t have google location on my phone at all.
The thing I need is street addresses, which OSM doesn’t really have yet for a lot of streets.
Can you run google maps without their location service? That’s the one thing I really miss and there’s no way to do it with Calyx that I know of

Those are the big three players in alternative operating systems that I know of. I use Calyx because my threat model is corporate data collection more than absolute security. Ironically, the best phones to put these operating systems on are the Google Pixel line because you can unlock and lock the bootloader. I’m not sure if there are other phones that allow this but the websites of the OS should guide you to hardware.
I have it on my SteamDeck right now. It’s my first immutable distro besides SteamOS so I’m not even sure which differences are “steam deck” and which are “bazzite”. One of these days I’ll try it on my gaming machine. I barely play MS Flight Sim anymore and don’t see myself buying 2024. X-Plane can probably scratch that itch now and I don’t play online with anti-cheat so I’ll be able to kill windows. Bazzite will probably be perfect for it because of that immutability. I spend way more time with my laptop, the gaming machine is expected to just work right when I turn it on.
