Download the kiwix app for whatever OS you’re using, then go into Kiwix and click on the folder icon in the app and navigate to where the .zim file you downloaded is located. If you click it it should automatically pop-up and be viewable.
If you did that and it’s still failing, is it giving you a specific error or anything?
The 100Gb version mentioned above does only have thumbnails/lowres pictures, yeah. Better than nothing for some types of articles, but not everything. The true text-only version is actually only ~53Gb though.
It might partly be that a lot of what is designed for a screen is made deliberately to be maximally appealing to begin with.
For example a film or tv show is shot with various lenses that create pleasing depth of field, color and light is carefully controlled. Same with high fidelity video games. Even the UI of your applications is made to be appealing and clean.
Sports are sort of shot like films too, and often the cameras can resolve much higher detail than our eyes alone can. The way a sports event is shot in high def can be like gaining the visual abilites of a hawk or something. The lens can zoom in close while our eyes can only squint.
The decades of propaganda about veganism by the meat and dairy industry is deeply embedded in cultures at this point, conservative culture especially.
People have been trained so thoroughly that they literally have a visceral, irrational response to the word veganism. It’s been made impossible to actually talk about in a coherent way with most people, and lemmy has a lot of redditor refugees who carry that kind of thing with them.
I’m not sure if it’s different per instance, but in lemmy.world instance you go out to the feed and scroll to the bottom. You can search by user name and such.

Denial won’t help anyone.
Some time this century most likely. Climate change along with China/Russia’s pursuit of empire along with their global campaign to seed and normalize autocracy will result in collapse eventually.
“Temporarily” has a pretty consistent habit of becoming permanent. It’s either malicious or extremely naive on Lenin’s part to believe that ypu can concentrate power into the hands of a few people and then they’ll just voluntarily give it up.
Which term is Xi on now at this point again? Oh right, he made himself dictator for life…
Yes, Lenin also prescribed dictatorship. His mindset was inextricable from the imperialist context he lived in, it limited his ability to imagine further. Which is part if why communism has always failed or collapsed into a fascist state capitalism (like China).
Uh, China doesn’t forgive the loans, they seize the assets, that’s the whole point of debt colonialism. They can’t colonize by force and no one trusts them to host their military bases, so they use debt to build a port or whatever and then when the host country can’t keep up on exhorbitant payments they take the port and ta-da, they’ve expanded their geopolitical reach.
China is in a hyper-imperialist push right now.
I dunno, I get this as much from old people too. I think it’s less an indicator of age and more an indication of people who aren’t great at thinking.
I think in regards specifically to the question of resolution, that anti-fingerprint setting will start your browser at a smaller, set resolution. The problem is nothing prevents you from just expanding the window, so it’s not a very strong solution in that aspect.
It’s the blood pumping through your arteries. I used to get this even in my teens after very long walks. You’re literally just feeling your own pulse as your heart works a bit harder to meet your body’s elevated demand for blood/oxygen.
I’m not sure why it seems to be more apparent after milder activity, but maybe something like walking doesn’t dialate your blood vessels so much so there’s a bit more pressure at certain points?
If you want to confirm its your blood vessels and not muscles, check your pulse as it’s happening and see if its the same rythmn.
As far as I know it’s normal, since I was in peak physical condition at that age (a lot of athletics, running etc.) but if it seems unusual for you personally I guess bring it up to a doctor.
Definitely, he never should’ve run and the other candidates never should have endorsed him as they dropped, especially since Sanders actually had steam and could’ve easily fulfilled the “Not Trump” space that Biden claimed he needed to be there to fill.
But, neoliberals are gonna neolib.
Ok, so Haitians are just pre-disposed to violence and savagery and it’s best to just let them eat eachother to death. Got it.
You’re sure you’re not the imperialist?
Not an answer. You literally don’t have one, all you’ve got is “America bad”.
Welp, the US is sitting this one out, so now’s your chance to offer a solution on how to help without US interference.
RDP is kind of limited because it’s a virtual session. It’s useful if you only need to do stuff while you’re actively connected but you can’t, for example, remote in and start an app or process going and then disconnect and have that app continue. When you d/c your profile is essentially logged out. Your activity also can’t be viewed by a user on the remote system, if you needed to collaborate or assist somehow.
UltraVNC has worked ok for me for windows systems. It has some of that open-source clunk to the UI, but is pretty straight forward and does what I need.
