Yeah it seems mostly SEO bait whenever I get results for it. I mostly rely on “awesome” lists on GitHub to find actual alternatives.

I had an employer that uses Santander for pension, within a day of them adding my info into Santanders systems my email that has never gotten spam before in over 10 years (custom domain, only every used for government stuff or employment stuff) got 20-30 spam emails. It keeps getting 10 or so a day since then.
Big banks WILL sell your info.
If you happen to torrent a fair bit (especially public trackers) then ipv6 can make a huge difference, there’s loads of ipv6 only seeders and leechers I’m suddenly reaching.

This was all I had on hand, goes into setting it as default but does also decently show why it is good
Work gave me an iPhone, it has been pestering me with “ACTIVATE YOUR FREE 3 MONTHS OF APPLE TV PLUS” once a week since new, and the same for iCloud storage, and the games service, and apple music.
I got 4 notifications a week at random times of the day from the system itself telling me to make sure I signed up for their free trial with my credit card before the 3 month period where the deal was available is over.
This has never happened on a Pixel for me, sure they pester you about Google One plans etc on first setup, but they shut the fuck up after you say no.
Probably meant in the context of hiding your piracy activities.
Other way around.
Neat! That’s a massive undertaking considering how much stuff needs to be shimmed to protect privacy, surprised anyone bothered! But I guess someone on the team must have bought a new car recently and want it working.
Android Auto can’t work with sandboxing, it basically needs to run as root and get full access to absolutely everything on the device.
I’d not expect it to work ever, unless someone spends significant time reverse engineering it.
Not all Philips bulbs actually, only Hue. They have another line called Wiz which uses wifi.
Yup, zigbee+Bluetooth. Am using a couple hue bulbs on my home assistant with a USB zigbee stick.
It’s fantastic, I can’t install the logitech software at work so I’ve used a Linux laptop with Solaar to add/remove devices on my receivers.
Funnily enough, this web based thing actually means l can now do this on my work laptop…
This reminds me that we need a windows port of Solaar (https://github.com/pwr-Solaar/Solaar)
If you happen to use a Conbee II: I had this issue until I updated the firmware. Has been rock solid with aqara devices after that.
