It’s debatable, technically it does start with a vowel so “an” should be used, but since it starts with a Y consonant sound, using “a” sounds a lot better and may also be considered correct/better.

Hell no. There are definitely a lot of shitty, no-effort anime but the same can be said for Western cartoons. However, there are some gorgeous, amazingly well made anime out there. Older ones especially tend have more skilled drawing/animation than anything we see today, and blow other anime and Western cartoons out of the water
